Hearing from family and friends near and far during this time of year is one of my favorite things! Much transpires in a year. Some good, some hard. Yet the Prince of Peace Himself is here with us escorting us every step of the way.
Jessica & Joey Christianson celebrated their first wedding anniversary September 1st. They both work at a large church in the area; Joey with the production team and Jess as the high school worship director. They love creating space where others can meet with God. In January they will travel to Spain to lead worship for student missionaries. We try to get together for Sunday dinners & hang out time. Schedules don’t always allow but we treasure the time whenever it works!
Chris is a senior at Purdue University in Math education. He enjoyed teaching an introductory math course at Purdue and tutored other math students this semester. He has one more semester on campus, then student teaching at a local high school in the fall graduating next December. Chris lives at Fairway, a Christian coop house of 55 great guys. He focuses much of his time in the Word and prayer and is excited to attend the One Thing conference again in Kansas City after Christmas. We love having him home!
Michael is on a new path. As we evaluated our future on top of a Colorado mountain this summer, weighing important options we asked ourselves “what would this make possible?” We strongly felt led that it is time for him to get his Masters degree to be a Counselor. That will make many options possible. Classes begin for him January 6th! Unplanned was Michael getting laid off Aug. 31st and not being able to find work. Most days we have peace that God is in charge and that all of these circumstances are a ‘re-direct’ from the Lord. In the midst of looking for work he has completed some projects around the house. He still enjoys riding his motorcycle and dabbling in photography.
Dana uses her expertise in developing effective communicators impacting missionaries and leaders globally (23 countries thus far). She has been invited to conduct training in Bulgaria this next summer. She still loves to sing whenever possible and did all the flowers for a friend’s wedding last May. Dana traveled a lot this year: Florida for work (February), family vacation in Gatlinburg over Spring Break, invited on an Alaskan cruise as the guest of a dear friend (June), Cru Staff Conference in Colorado (July), then she and Michael traveled to Alaska (August) to attend an impactful grief-recovery retreat with Spark of Life ministry. She continues to mentor a number of women and tries to keep the home front somewhat organized and peaceful.
May the Christ child bring you sweet comfort and hope for 2014!!!!
