This year alone 300,000 students will be studying abroad with a national initiative to double that number within the next five years. Many of these students are Christians with a desire to impact the world for Christ. Matthew 28:19 says “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” An initiative within Cru called Cru Abroad helps these students “make disciples” during their study abroad.
One student from East Asia, Neal, accepted Christ with a Cru Abroad student: “God is sooooo cool. I am really appreciate that you bring Jesus to me, that’s the most important & happiness thing in my life!”
Neal’s English may not be perfect, but his message is joyfully clear. Today Neal is the one studying abroad–in Milwaukee–and sharing the message of Christ with anyone who will listen–right here in America!
For the last couple of months our Innovation Team has been helping Cru Abroad design and edit a playbook, a compilation of articles, devotionals, and discussion questions that will aid students who want to study abroad and reach students for Christ on their new campuses.
This project is a great example of what The Innovation Team is all about–using our creative talents to help accelerate the ministries of Cru worldwide! Karen, our graphic designer created the layout, Ashleyne, a writer on our team led a team of editors who combed through the workbook in order to bring it to the next level. She also asked me to rework some of the devotionals, which was a blast. Definitely a team effort!
Thank you for partnering with me to help reach more people with God’s love in strategic and creative ways! It is exciting to think of students using this playbook to strengthen their own faith while they are so far from home, and learn how to reach more students – like Neal – who are waiting for someone to take the initiative to share Christ with them.
Worship Band Tour…
A Keynote band just left the U.S. to travel to Spain, Thailand, and Turkey. They will be leading worship for Stint Conferences where college students from around the world will gather. These students are taking a year (or two) of their lives to devote their time in reaching other students around the world for Christ.
This Stint Conference comes at a vital time, half way through their internship. Many are weary needing spiritual and physical refreshment. Many have not been able to worship in their own language or openly. Pray this is an oasis for them.
Grateful for your partnership!
